Photo Competition 2022

Hey you mob!

Do you know your way around a camera? Enter our photography competition by submitting your best photos that represent the theme On country… for your chance to win some pirrki! (that’s Kaurna for money!)

Entries will be judged on the following merits:

  • Relevance to the theme, On country…
  • Composition
  • Creativity
  • Overall impact
  • Originality

There are 22 prizes up for grabs:

  • 1 x First prize = $1,500
  • 1 x Second prize = $1,000
  • 20 x Highly commended = $150

Terms and conditions

1. Background

1.1. This photography competition is being conducted by the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation, under the name Coalition of Peaks (ABN 89 078 949 710).

1.2. Submitting an entry into this competition deems acceptance of these terms and conditions.

1.3. The Coalition of Peaks reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions or suspend or cancel this competition if an event beyond its control impacts the proper conduct of this competition.

1.4. This competition is free to enter.

2. Who can enter

2.1. This competition is open to any Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person in Australia, except those stated in 2.2.

2.2. Employees of the Coalition of Peaks Secretariat and the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation are not eligible to enter the competition.

3. How to enter

3.1. Entries are open from Friday 5 August 2022 to 11:50pm Friday 2 September 2022.

3.2. Entries must be submitted to secretariat@coalitionofpeaks.org.au and include one entry form per photograph submitted.

3.3. There is no limit to how many photographs an entrant can submit.

3.4. Photographs must be high resolution (at least 300 pixels per inch) and saved in JPG or PNG format.

3.5. Photographs must be larger than 1Mb in size.

4. Submission guidelines

4.1. Entries must be original photographs produced by the entrant.

4.2. Entries must not include any trademarks or copyright material owned by a third party.

4.3. Entries must not violate any persons’ privacy.

4.4. It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure they have gained the appropriate permissions or talent releases for their entries, if required.

4.5. Entries must not have watermarks or branding on them.

4.6. Entries must not plagiarise the work of anyone else.

4.7. Entries must be relevant to the theme On country…

5. Judging

5.1. Initial judging of images will be conducted by members of the Policy and Secretariat Team of the Coalition of Peaks.

5.2. Shortlisted images will be presented to a meeting of the Coalition of Peaks Members for final decision and endorsement.

5.3. Images will be judged on the following merits:

  • Relevance to the theme, On country…
  • Composition
  • Creativity
  • Overall impact
  • Originality
6. Prizes

6.1. There will be 22 prizes awarded:

  • 1 x First prize = $1,500
  • 1 x Second prize = $1,000
  • 20 x Highly commended = $150

6.2. Prize winners will be contacted via email and, provided they give permission, announced on social media.

6.3. All decisions are final.

6.4. Prizes are not transferable.

6.5. The Coalition of Peaks will liaise with prize winners to enable prize delivery.

7. Rights

7.1. By entering the competition, the entrant grants royalty-free, non-exclusive use of entries to the Coalition of Peaks for its website, social media, collateral, eNewsletter, and any promotional materials to promote its Closing the Gap work.

7.2. The Coalition of Peaks will not be liable for any third-party misuse of images.

7.3. By entering the competition, the entrant acknowledges that the Coalition of Peaks is under no obligation to use their entry.

7.4. All copyright remains with the entrant.
