Accountability and Reporting
The National Agreement on Closing the Gap includes a commitment by the Parties to independent oversight and accountability.
The Productivity Commission has developed and regularly maintains a publicly accessible dashboard comprising data and associated supporting materials to inform the reporting on progress of the Closing the Gap in the four Priority Reform and 17 socio-economic outcome areas. Over time, as data becomes available, this will build into an important tool for monitoring progress. See the Productivity Commission’s Dashboard.
The Productivity Commission also prepares an Annual Data Compilation Report which provides a point-in-time snapshot on progress under the National Agreement. See the Annual Data Compilation Report.
A Partnership Health Check (Health Check) is held annually to assess the health of the partnership between the Coalition of Peaks and government Parties, together the Partnership Parties. The purpose of the Health Check is to consider the direction of movement of the Partnership against the agreed success indicators, which are broadly related to the principles of shared decision-making, equal participation, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander agency. See the Partnership Health Checks.
